Kissy Doll

In 1961, Ideal produced one of their cutest dolls ever. Her name is Kissy, the new kissing doll, and she is as lovable as can be. When you gently squeeze her arms together she puckers her lips and gives you a loud sweet kiss! There were four versions of the Kissy doll produced between 1961 and 1968. All versions have the same kissing feature, with the exception of Cuddly Kissy.

The first (1961) Kissy was available until 1964. She wore a red and white gingham dress with red T strap Mary Jane shoes and stood 22” tall. The second Kissy doll, Tiny Kissy, came out in 1963. She looked almost identical to the original Kissy in that she wore a similar red and white gingham dress with red Mary Jane shoes, yet she was smaller, standing only 16” tall. In 1966 Ideal decided to change the look of Tiny Kissy. The 1966 version has long, straight auburn hair that parts on the side. Her dress is an orange and yellow A-Line. Ideal also released Baby Kissy in 1963. She was produced for only one year, and was a “baby” version of the original Kissy. Her cute bowed legs prevented her from being able to stand.

The final version of Ideal’s Kissy doll was Cuddly Kissy. She too was only produced for one year, and had bowed legs which prevented her from standing. Cuddly Kissy was the only Kissy doll produced with a cloth body. To activate her kissing features, you had to squeeze her tummy, which would draw her hands together and activate the kissing sound.

Darling, beautiful companions for every little girl! It’s a wonderful doll. It’s Ideal!

I have a Tiny Kissy doll that I got in 1966 or 1967. She has platinum hair color. She came in a red jumper with a white blouse, white socks with black shoes. I don’t have her clothes anymore. Her numbers on back are K-16

I have a Kissy Doll in the original box with the plastic bag on the head but opened. My doll is the 22″ but my dress is baby blue and white striped with the Kissy tag on it. I got it in 1963 or 1964. It is in immaculate condition. What do you think it is worth?

      Hi Jeannine,

From what I can tell from your description, the Kissy doll you have is most likely a Baby Kissy doll (sometimes called Kissy Baby). She was only produced from 1963 to 1964, so she is not easy to come by. Although we’re not appraisers, if I owned the doll in the condition you described, I would expect to get between $100-$300 from the sale of it.

      Hope this helps.

    Hi Juli.

There were two versions of the Tiny Kissy doll released; one that looks just like the 22” Kissy doll and wears a red gingham dress, and one that has long straight auburn hair and wears an orange and yellow A-line dress. The Tiny Kissy with the A-line dress is harder to come by, making it more desirable.

A quick ebay search at this time finds the Tiny Kissy dolls selling anywhere from $9.99 to $49.99 without the box.

Three different doll collecting books value a MIB Tiny Kissy doll at between $150-$200. The books are dated 2001, 2005 and 2008.
