Fangface Board Game

by Parker Brothers

Parker Brothers Board Game Fangface, 1979Oh yeah! Released in 1979, it’s Parker Brothers’ wacky werewolf game! You just gotta rescue Pugsy from Fangface as you travel with the gang. With spaces marked “THROW FINGERS”, “YOU ARE SAFE FOR NOW”, and “GO BACK TO RESCUE PUGSY”, this exciting, fast-paced game keeps you on the edge of your seat. Be the first player to travel the path of adventure with Biff, Kim, Pugsy and Sherman “Fangs” Fangsworth and reach the very end. But watch out along the way – Fangs may turn into Fangface at any time, and when he does, he usually eats Pugsy! Designed for 2 to 4 players, ages 6 through 12, Fangface is another one of those rare cult classics you’ll enjoy again and again, for hours at a time.

Parker Brothers Board Game Fangface, 1979Parker Brothers Board Game Fangface, 1979Fangface was a 30-minute Saturday morning cartoon executive-produced by Joe Ruby and Ken Spears for ABC television. The show aired from September 9, 1978 to September 8, 1979. Loyal viewers know this show is much like Scooby-Doo (another Ruby-Spears creation) from the standpoint that it features some cool teenagers and a wacky animal character. Let’s not forget that, like Scooby-Doo, the Fangface gang also investigates mysteries. The Fangface adventures involve solving crimes with monsters and evil masterminds. Along the way, Sherman turns into a werewolf (Fangface) every time he sees the moon – or a picture of the moon, or something in the shape of the moon…you get the idea. This is all because of an old family curse. Then there’s the eating Pugsy part – he doesn’t actually eat Pugsy. He pretty much just holds Pugsy in his mouth until Biff or Kim rubs Fangface’s foot to calm him down.

Parker Brothers Board Game Fangface, 1979SParker Brothers Board Game Fangface, 1979o, like in the TV show, in this wacky board game you drive around in the gang’s convertible being adventurous and saving Pugsy from being eaten. You can use a moon card to deliberately turn Sherman into Fangface. This is a move used against your opponent. When used, your opponent has to go back and rescue Pugsy, therefore setting him/her back several spaces on the path. Bummer for your opponent, but everyone gets a moon card and you never know when Fangface will appear and it’s you who must rescue Pugsy!

Really, if you like Fangface the TV show, this game is a must have. If you’ve never seen the show, this game will hook you. There is a pretty substantial cult following of Fangface. Check the net for websites and fan clubs. Hop into the Fangface gang’s convertible for a fantastic ride of mystery, adventure and spooky fun!
