by Ideal
In 1961, Ideal produced one of their cutest dolls ever. Her name is Kissy, the new kissing doll, and she is as lovable as can be. When you gently squeeze her arms together she puckers her lips and gives you a loud sweet kiss! There were four versions of the Kissy doll produced between 1961 and 1968. All versions have the same kissing feature, with the exception of Cuddly Kissy.
The first (1961) Kissy was available until 1964. She wore a red and white gingham dress with red T strap Mary Jane shoes and stood 22” tall. The second Kissy doll, Tiny Kissy, came out in 1963. She looked almost identical to the original Kissy in that she wore a similar red and white gingham dress with red Mary Jane shoes, yet she was smaller, standing only 16” tall. In 1966 Ideal decided to change the look of Tiny Kissy. The 1966 version has long, straight auburn hair that parts on the side. Her dress is an orange and yellow A-Line. Ideal also released Baby Kissy in 1963. She was produced for only one year, and was a “baby” version of the original Kissy. Her cute bowed legs prevented her from being able to stand.
Tiny KissyThe final version of Ideal’s Kissy doll was Cuddly Kissy. She too was only produced for one year, and had bowed legs which prevented her from standing. Cuddly Kissy was the only Kissy doll produced with a cloth body. To activate her kissing features, you had to squeeze her tummy, which would draw her hands together and activate the kissing sound.
Darling, beautiful companions for every little girl! It’s a wonderful doll. It’s Ideal!
